For a star to be born, there is one thing that must happen: a gaseous nebula must collapse.

So collapse.
This is not your destruction.

This is your birth. (via operation-hourglass)

Last summer, I researched a couple things and they made my life better. Why not share it?
Feel free to add to this list, I’m sure there are those who are an expert at this stuff.
Emergency pimple that you need to get rid of ASAP
1) Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar. It’s recommended that you dilute your apple cider vinegar if your skin is sensitive. 2) Hold the soaked cotton ball onto pimples GENTLY (don’t press hard) for at least 5 minutes! 3) Dab apple cider vinegar on your pimples through out the day. 4) Let the apple cider dry. Results: By nighttime or the next day, your pimple should shrink or disappear provided you persistently dabbed it repeatedly
Don’t do this often, it can aggravate your skin*
Facial scrub
There are many you can do. Here are 10 of them.
For longer, thicker eyelashes
Apply vaseline on your eyelashes before you sleep. You can also use a clean mascara brush and dip it in some almond, olive or coconut oil and apply it on your eyelashes.
To get rid of dark elbows and knees
Use a lemon and squeeze it until you get the juice out. Use cotton balls to soak them in the lemon juice and then apply all over your knees and elbows. Leave them it on for a couple minures, then using a warm washcloth scrub it off.
For baby smooth skin
Use 2 teaspoons of yogurt, 1 teaspoon of milk and honey, 3 teaspoons of flour and mix all together and apply on your face. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash it off.
For lighter skin
Wanna get rid of that summer tan ? Squeeze lemon juice again but remember to dilute it. Never put direct lemon juice onto your face. Mix this with some sugar. Use it as a scrub. Leave it on your face for no more than 5 minutes. The same can be done for your body.
For silky hair
Apply olive oil/coconut oil to your hair. Make sure you get it deep into those roots. Leave on for 30 minutes up to 1 hour and wash it off with shampoo and conditioner
For whiter teeth
Sprinkle some baking soda on your toothbrush and brush using gentle, circular motions. I’d watch out if you had gum sensitivity though. Old wives’ recipes often state that a paste of baking powder, a little salt, and a few drops of white vinegar, works effectively.
For cleaner nails
Just scrub your nails with a loofah and use a toothpick to take out dirt.
There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts will tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plans, and may seem crazy to others. When that happens, you do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it. Wrong Door

whoever made this-you’re genious hahah
Try a thing you haven’t done three times. Once, to get over the fear of doing it. Twice, to learn how to do it. And a third time, to figure out whether you like it or not. Virgil Garnett Thomson (via feellng)

I’m not worried about little girls wanting to pretend they’re princesses—after all, they’re just in it for the dress-up aspect. The princesses I’m worried about are twenty-two, thirty-two, and forty-two—women who act fragile in order to be rescued at any age. I’m not anti feminine… I don’t feel belittled pouring your drink, ironing the clothes, or walking through the door that’s held for me. But I was taught to take charge when appropriate, and to speak passionately and intelligently. I was taught to expect men to respect me for my mind and my convictions—not for my ability to stroke their fragile ego by playing helpless. I was not raised to play cute, to play dumb, or to play the part of a damsel in distress. I learned to work hard, to develop my skills, to contribute in society, so it drives me crazy when women only depend on sexuality or their fragility. I think there’s a better way. If you’re a woman who gets by with batting your eyelashes, faking incompetence, using your push-up bra, and then complain that you’re not taken seriously in your career or given responsibility in your church, I think you may have believed the reigning cultural lie about what makes us attractive. And if you’re a man and you celebrate femininity only as far as it presence itself through beauty and tenderness, please consider widening your view of what it means to be a woman. Instead, consider things like strength, intelligence, passion, and compassion. Let’s set a new example for young women who are watching us closely. Let’s teach them by example to be women who work hard, who pay attention to their dreams, who give themselves to making the world a better place. "Bittersweet" by Shauna Niequist (via yesdarlingido)

babe-ist: Could you please explain the significance of nutrients vs. calories? c:

I’d love to! It’s actually fun to breakdown. When I first went through it all I found it really enlightening and calming. There’s so much content out in the world that can quickly become extremely confusing and muddled. It’s nice to just stop and really take a look at cold, hard fact.

Solet’s break this down!

Food: Any nutritious substance that is consumed in order to maintain and sustain life and growth and to repair and furnish energy.

Nutrient: A substance that provides nourishment essential for growth and the maintenance of metabolism and life.

Calorie: The energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree.

Food and nutrients are taken into the body to maintain life and growth, sustain growth and repair, provide energy, and support metabolism. There is nothing in the definition of a calorie about nutrition, growth, repair, building, healing, or anything about sustaining life. It is basically an energy producing potential. Yet calories are usually what people obsess over the most. But what most people miss is that not all calories are built the same.

One hundred calories of kale provides a TON of vital nutrients that allow your body to function properly and at a high level. The same one hundred calories of cinnamon buns contains little to no usable nutrients. Because of these facts, the “Calories in, calories out” mindset just doesn’t make sense

This is why it’s so crucial to break away from a calorie mindset. There are so many positive and negative factors that go into the usefulness or harm of each piece of food we consume. We need energy. We need nutrients. And so many people are missing crucial nutrient rich foods in their diets because of their fear of a unit of energy.

At the end of the day, If the majority of what you consume is nutrient rich, you will never have to worry about calories. Eat enough, eat often, educate yourself on what you’re consuming, and fill your life with food that will benefit you NOT foods that have the least amount of calories.
